On July 14, 1989 the recently restored Pere Marquette 1225, a 2-8-4, was trying out its legs on the Tuscola and Saginaw Bay between St. Charles and Chesaning, Michigan. The Berkshire was on the south end of a pull-pull operation with TSBY 389 on the north end.
