On July 22, 1992 the UP 3985 was pulling an excursion train from San Jose to Stockton, California and return for the NRHS Annual Convention. The birds were sent scurrying by the noise and smoke as the 3985 was photographed approching the Bernal Avenue overpass at Pleasanton, California.
